Investigation of Low Cycle Fatigue Behaviors of Inertia-Friction-Welded Joints of the TC21 Titanium Alloy

As a new highly damage-tolerant structural material, the TC21 titanium alloy has been widely used in aerospace applications. Inertial friction welding (IFW) is form of pressure technology with less parameters and high joint performance, which especially suitable for connection rotors aero-compressors engines. In this paper, inertia alloys was successfully carried out, microhardness, tensile properties low cycle fatigue (LCF) behaviors IFW joints were studied. Based on mechanical parametric results test, true stress–strain curves are obtained by further calculation. LCF test under different strain amplitudes, life prediction investigated. The show that there no obvious cyclic hardening softening joints. Moreover, fracture morphology samples amplitude (0.9%) (0.6%) observed. cracks initiate propagate at multiple points samples, transient zone larger amplitude. However, amplitude, crack nucleates propagates single point, propagation larger.
